The Alphabet Project

buy the Letter A

So in an effort to stay overwhelmed I bring you my latest idea, to draw the alphabet. Ever since I started making art I have always wanted to draw the alphabet. Although secretly I see more than just drawings of letters, think “alphabet book,” well one day. Show after show I notice moms coming in with their kids and pointing to a drawing and asking “What animal is this?”. I feel my art has a perfect mix of what’s real and surreal. It makes kids think. But like I said that’s a secret, don’t tell anyone, I’m nowhere near ready to take that on.

It works out perfectly, 26 letters right? Every other week? 52? That’s a year right? I still have to get other stuff done while I’m working on this project so I’ll have to take it slow. But a year is good enough to spend getting all these done. Most of the letters are going to be designs Hannah and I come up with but we will stick some regular fonts in there and stuff that happens to look like a letter. You know just to keep them exciting, I’m not thinking of them as a complete body of work that needs to work with each other, so each one will be different and will be thought of differently.

Of course if I start to notice certain letters selling better I will make other versions of them as the demand for them grows. So if you want to see more letters you gotta buy more letters. I also see Photoshoping up some popular words and phases to sell as prints online, like “love”, “hope”, “happy good times van” you know important things like that. Lets see how this goes.
